Gallery: Cato-Meridian football defeats Westmoreland in sectional quarterfinals
Cato-Meridian defeated Westmoreland/Oriskany 54-21 in the Section III, Class D quarterfinals at Cato-Meridian High School on Friday.
The Blue Devils scored at least 14 points in each of the final three quarters to claim the dominant victory.
Camren Hoag paced the Blue Devils on offense with 213 rushing yards and a trio of touchdowns on 14 carries. Logan Merriam had four attempts for 80 yards and one score, while Jacob LaForce took one rush for 39 yards and the end zone.Â
Quarterback Finley Stonecypher did damage through the air when he connected with Hunter Gillmore on a 65-yard touchdown.
Logan Burnett led Cato-Meridian's defense with a pair of sacks to go along with five tackles. Micah Muhlnickel had a team-high 8.5 tackles, while Liam Mantell and Merriam each had six tackles.Â
The Blue Devils will now take on the winner of Mount Markham and Sandy Creek on Friday in the semifinals.Â
