69´«Ã½ boys cross-country won its third straight Section III, Class A championship with 33 points on Saturday at Mount Markham.
Ryan Maher was crowned sectional champion as he placed first with a time of 15:34.3. Owen Gasper recorded a 15:39.2 in second, while Austin Ferrin finished in third with a 15:41.2.Â
Sean Ringwood posted a time of 16:29.4 in 10th. Teagan Wilbur took 17th with a time of 17:01.6.
On the girls side, Kyleen Brady was named sectional champion after recording a 17:38.2 in first place. In fifth, Mary Alice Pineau posted a 18:12.5. Abigail Ringwood had a 18:41.7 in eighth, while Nora Burroughs concluded in 15th with a 19:12.3.Â
The 69´«Ã½ boys squad and the pair of Brady and Pineau will compete at the state championships on Nov. 16 at Queensbury High School.Â

Corning Community College 69, Cayuga Community College 37: The Spartans started solid on the road Saturday, trailing only 28-24 at the half, but the Red Barons ran away in the third and fourth quarters for the win. “I thought we played very well in the first and second quarters," coach Jim Alberici said in a news release. "But the game got away from us in the third quarter. But our effort was good. We’ll regroup and be ready for our next game." Lexi Alberici led the team with 11 points, five assists and three steals. Haley Mosch had 8 points and 11 rebounds, and Savanna Murray had 7 points and two blocks. The Spartans will next host Finger Lakes Community College on Wednesday.

Whitesboro 31, 69´«Ã½ 0: The No. 4 Maroons were held scoreless by the No. 1 Warriors on Friday in its 31-0 road loss in the Section III, Class A semifinals. 69´«Ã½ surrendered just 7 points to the Warriors in the first half, but Whitesboro erupted for 21 third-quarter points to take a commanding lead. In 69´«Ã½â€™s matchup with the No. 5-ranked team statewide in Class A on Oct. 25 at home, the Warriors came out of the locker room ready to do damage as well, scoring 23 points on their way to a 50-6 win. Friday’s loss also marks the second time in three years the Warriors have ended the Maroons’ season. 69´«Ã½ concludes the 2024 season with a 7-3 record.Â
Boys soccer
Tully 2, Southern Cayuga 1: Southern Cayuga fell in the Class C regional in double overtime on Saturday in Oneonta to the Section III champion. The team finishes its season with a 13-2-2 record.Â
