National and state-level organizations have scheduled a webinar to provide Wells College students more information about their legal rights after the school announced it will close at the end of the spring semester.
The free webinar, which was organized by the National Consumer Law Center, New York Legal Assistance Group and LawNY, will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 7, on . Registration is not required.聽
According to Anna Anderson, an attorney at the National Consumer Law Center and a Wells College alumna, the topics will include accessing academic records, rights to discharge student loans due to the school's closure, "teach-out" programs and credit transfer issues.聽

"We want to make sure that students know their legal rights now that the college is closing," Anderson wrote in an email to 69传媒.聽
The closure affects more than 300 students, most of whom will need to transfer to another school to continue their education.
Wells has entered into teach-out agreements with several institutions, including Manhattanville University. But the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, the college's accreditor, said it has not reviewed or approved the teach-out agreements.聽
Students can access transcripts from Wells or the , according to the college. After the college's closure, transcripts can be requested from Manhattanville University's registrar's office.聽
Federal student loans can be discharged due to school closures. The U.S. Department of Education has more information on about the discharge process and who is eligible for loan forgiveness.聽
