Wells College has not made its president, Jonathan Gibralter, available for an interview with 69´«Ã½. The college has not responded to other inquiries, including what's happening with certain facilities located there, and on the day of its closure announcement, officials asked two 69´«Ã½ reporters to leave the campus.
What will happen to the campus?Â
Answer: College officials are working with the New York Attorney General to determine next steps for the property.
What is the rationale for choosing Manhattanville?Â
Note: When Wells announced the closure, it listened Manhattanville University as its preferred teach-out partner.
Answer: The (college's board of trustees) voted to choose Manhattanville as its preferred teach-out and legacy partner due to its commitment to Wells — both ensuring a seamless transition for students, but also the further preservation of Wells' legacy.
I am an admitted student with a deposit. Do I get my deposit back?Â
Answer: Your enrollment deposit will be refunded. Refunds are being processed now and will be refunded to the same payment method. We ask for patience as the business office catches up to the backlog of requests at this time.Â
As a newly enrolled student at Wells, you are invited to apply to any of our partner institutions and some of these schools have committed to keeping the same net cost as it would have been at Wells. How can I request a transcript after the closure?Â

The college will preserve academic records and student transcripts will remain accessible. After closure, transcripts may be requested from our legacy partner, Manhattanville University through its registrar's office. We will post a message here on when records will be available through Manhattanville.

What will happen to the WCA?
Note: The WCA is the college's alumni association.
Answer: The college expects that the WCA will continue and provide important information and feedback to Manhattanville University.
What will happen to 'X' item, artifact?Â
Answer: The college is working with the WCA in coordination with our legacy institution on how to address and honor the items, memorabilia and other artifacts that hold a special place in Wells history.Â
Transcripts, employment records and other business records will eventually be housed at Manhattanville University.Â
What's happening to the water plant?Â
Note: The college's water plant has sold water to the village of Aurora since the 1920s.
Answer: The Aurora water plant will continue to operate normally without any changes as we work with the attorney general's office to determine an ownership transition plan.Â
What's happening to Peachtown and the health center?Â
Note: The Community Medical Center and Peachtown Elementary School are located on the Wells College campus.
Answer: We've reached out to both organizations and have been in regular communication with them. We're working with both organizations and the attorney general's office on a long-term solution while these organizations continue to operate as normal.Â
What about commencement and other events coming up?Â
